

A (Mostly) Happy Ending
As we end our annual visit to South Africa, we are thinking about the former Bakhita Village girls, especially the ones who are not doing well in their current living situations. The Bakhita Outreach team has a plan to keep up with these girls and help when needed and intervene where necessary. Daily African Experiences
Much of our work here since mid-January has been serious as we try to bring a positive impact to lives of innocent children. But along with tough stuff, we never fail to get a chuckle or two as we go through our ordinary daily African routine. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t spray our house – bed included – with Doom Crawling Bug Spray. The kitchen sink, window sills, cabinets, floor and table all get “Doomed” in hopes of reducing the ant population. It works well for us –


More Village Visits
We, along with an OLSH Sister and one of the former Bakhita Village Care Givers, are continuing home visits to the girls who were in residence at Bakhita Village when it closed last December. We still care very deeply for these girls and want to help in any way we can as they try to adjust to their new living arrangements with their guardians. Celebration & Business
A few days after our initial welcome from our St. Brendan’s students, we gathered them together to give them their gift bags so thoughtfully and carefully prepared by generous donors. The girls were delighted to receive the gifts and appreciated every item. They enjoyed showing each other the clothing items, comparing various types of lip balm and discussing the book that was included in each bag.
