Enthusiastic Welcome

After a couple days of traveling, we arrived at our home away from home, the volunteers house at St. Brendan’s School, the place of Bakhita Village.

Our Bakhita girls were very happy to see us and were ready to have many photos taken. Their request is always, “Papa John, shoot me a photo!” 

The following evening, the girls organized an official Welcome for us. It included prayers, songs, speeches, choreographed dancing, free-form dancing . . . and very loud music.

 Living here at St. Brendan’s in the bush, the spiritual and social event of the week is the Sunday Mass. It offers energetic singing during the service, followed by an energetic afterglow outside of the church.
